Pink Tile

All I can say is....

nail polish meet tile.....tile meet nail polish....

What a great aroma it gives, NOT! Next time I'll make sure Cayne grabs a non-breakable off the counter..... : )

I spy something green....

Our first tomato of the season! I hope there's many more to follow.

Our zucchini has flowered...

The green beans have flowerd too..

I didn't take a picture of our peppers because they are a little on the slim side, but were hoping they "fluff" up once the heat is here to stay.

Dipaers on the line....or something else

I started my usual Saturday morning laundry. In the summer, I use the clothesline more than the dryer. I washed a load of diapers and then hung them outside to dry. ( I couldn't resist a picture because I thought they looked so cute out there) This was the first one I took....

Then I took a second picture getting the backside of the diapers.

We'll keep it anonymous....but I was out and about and set my camera down. Someone turned it on and started looking through pictures to figure out whose camera it was. They came across this picture since it was the last one I took.....

They took a quick glance and thought I had maxi-pads out on the line. LOL. I may be frugal but not that frugal...thats just gross! LOL.

I had to share the story though.....

2 rules of the road...

Everyone learns the rules of the road, maybe you forget some a time or two but the common sense ones should never ever leave your head. I drive quite a bit and encounter these more than I should.....come on people.
Rule #1 – If your going to pull out in front of someone, don’t cruise down the road at 20 mph causing us to slam on our brakes. (We technically were on the road before you….) Make an attempt to accelerate to the speed you think we are driving down the road.
Rule #2 – The left lane is the passing lane. Drive faster than the person to the right of you. If your taking a Sunday drive stay in the right one. Your only causing traffic to bottleneck. Uggh!

Deals

Okay if you know me, you know I love to find good deals. I have to share with you this deal I got awhile back. Call me old - whatever - I love coupons but I have one better. I was shopping around for an item and trying to find out which store was selling it at the lowest price. (But that I didn't have to go out of my way for and use gas to get it) I priced it at Rural King, WalMart and Big R. I drive by those stores daily. Big R was the most expensive. Rural King was the second runner up with a sale price. Wal-Mart was the cheapest but only sold it online and then I would have had to pay shipping or wait like 2 weeks for site to store. A lot of stores are price-matching now because they want the business soooo I took Wal-Marts deal....printed the item with price and bought it at the most expensive place. I felt like I won big just knowing that someone else might have paid full price 190.00 and I took maybe 10 minutes and saved 51.00 and only paid 139.00. WooooHoooo!

The groove...

We are back in the groove of our routine and I'm happy to say it feels good too. Everyone's healthy, full of smiles and laughing..... Louie on the other hand, is a bit sad since his friends are gone. We have gotten the "I'm bored" puppy eyes a few times now. Poor guy.

Here is a picture of Cayne that I took at the beginning of June. Is she looking more like Ross or like me? A shout out to Auntie S for the dress and Oma for the bow. (oh ya, I need to upload a picture of her bows....)

Behind

Im behind again on my blog. I will try to get a least 2 postings in this week.

First and Foremost, the Robison family is doing much better, well majority. The friday before last I noticed some green gunk coming from one of Cayne's eye. Thinking it could be pink eye, I used some over the counter homeopathic pink eye drops. No luck. I had to work that Saturday and Sunday so Ross was home with her. Saturday he cleaned up her eyes. Sunday followed with sneezing, coughing and a runny nose. Thinking this would be a 2 day bug, Ross stayed home with her on monday and I stayed home with her on tuesday. She was a zombie. She looked awful. She couldnt breath, couldnt sleep and didnt want to eat. I called and her pediatrician was on vacation (her secondary pediatrician was booked) so tuesday night she saw a doctor she's never seen before. Cayne was put on eye drops for pink eye and benadryl to dry her up, saying it was a cold "viral mess". I stayed home with her on Wednesday. Her eyes were still matted shut with gunk, nothing was getting better. Ross stayed home with her on Thursday and got us an appoitment with her secondary pediatrician that afternoon. Thank goodness! One look and said "wow, thers a lot going on" took her off the eye drops because she doesn't have pink eye. She's is now on antibiotics for an ear infection, she has a cold that will run its coarse, she was put on a steroid cream for eczema, and to still use the benadryl for now, for possible allergies.

Its Sunday night and all is well again. We have Cayne back. She is feeling better and happy again. She's sleeping in her bed again and not in the swing, therefore mom and dad are sleeping in their bed again and not on the couch with one eye and ear open. Its been a long week and now Ross has been infected...he's got crap in his chest. : (

In the mix of all this, we are dogsitting for some friends. Louie has had the time of his life since wednesday and will until this thursday. Never a dull moment in this house. What a bunch of cuties though.

Salsa...BLT's....Poppers...Bread....Baby Food

The 2011 garden has been planted. YAY!! Ross and I went shopping and picked out the plants last weekend. 12 pepper, 2 zucchini, 1 eggplant, 2 cherry tomato, 4 tomato, green beans, and onions. Full garden...we are out of space. Next year we will extend to have a bigger bed. We didn't get to plant everything we wanted. But this summer and fall we are in for some good food!

WalMart and the system....

I guess this is going to be my way of venting a little......

Ross or I hadn't been to Walmart in many many weeks. So we get to WalMart and instead of leaving Cayne in her carseat, we put her in the stroller that way we could have the full use of the space in the cart. Good thing because the cart was FULL. We get out the debit card to pay and was shocked. It was over 200.00. We have never spent that much at Walmart! (that was with coupons) We filled the back of my Envoy and as we were getting ready to shut the door, I turn and see Cayne still sitting in the stroller. We load Cayne into her carseat and realize we have no room for the stroller because we loaded the groceries first.... oooops! hahaha Im just wondering if this has happened to someone else too....

That night Ross and I were talking about how much we spent and how easy it was to do actually. Then he proceeds to tell me about someone getting approved for WIC and all the groceries they get and don't have to pay for. I immediately thought about my WalMart trip when I just spent 200.00. I was pissed. He asked why? My response was...the system is screwed up! The family had planned this pregnancy. She qualified and was approved by providing her income only. Although the total household makes more than some of us probably. So we are working to pay for others to get free groceries and they can afford to pay for them just like the rest of us. Ross started to agree with me. This got me thinking and the next day I talked to someone I know that could probably use WIC and be legit. Single lady, fostering a child.....Did you know that when you foster a child, "the system" helps you, but the minute you adopt or take guardianship, they drop you. Even though your income doesn't change. Isn't that what its suppose to be based on anyway? The system is soooo screwed up! So there's people out there that don't need free groceries but get them and some people that don't get them and need them! The end......since I could probably go on forever.

Banana Pudding

My sister shared this recipe with me and I wanted to share it with you. Its Paula Deen's - Not your mamas banana pudding. I made it last week but added some vanilla to it. It is sooooo yummy! I love baking and cooking in the kitchen (one thing I get from my mom) Enjoy!

1- 8oz cream cheese (softened)
1- can sweetened condensed milk
6-8 bananas sliced
1- container of cool whip
1 tsp vanilla
2 packages of pepperridge farms chessmen cookies
1- box of instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups milk

Line the bottom of a 13x9x2 with one bag of cookies and layer the bananas on top.

In first bowl, with an electric mixer, combine the milk and pudding. In another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk until smooth. Add in the pudding mixture to the second bowl. Add in the vanilla. Then finally add in the cool whip. Pour over the cookies and bananas. Cover with remaining cookies and refridgerate for a couple hours.

One of my fav's

Wow. I'm behind again. Actually I have had many things I could have blogged about but I just didn't have the time to sit down at the computer for more than 2 minutes. I will be quick and just post one of my favorite pictures.....what a cutie! ......okay so I added 2.....

I think she was trying to pose for this one or something....such a funny face.....

Backburner

There are 24 hours in one day. I need like 40 right now. Maybe 50. I have realized the important things in life get the attention or tackled first and other things get put on the backburner. But what do I do when the backburner is full and overflowing? I have even cut my hours at work to 7 hours a day instead of 8 and am somehow not seeing where that extra hour is. Am I missing a piece to the puzzle or do I seriously not get it..? This weekend is the first weekend in April that I don't have to work or travel. I am REALLY hoping the sun will shine because I always get more done with a burst of sunlight! I am skipping out on a shopping trip to get caught up and "clear the stovetop". I need every minute I can get! If anyone has any suggestions for me or a routine they use.....please comment. :)

Man Down..

So this past week has been an eventful one....to say the least. Last weekend I covered for a coworker that needed the weekend off. I worked midnights on Saturday and Sunday. So when I started off this week it was not a normal routine week. Friday arrives and I get a call at work that Ross is leaving convenient care.....First thought "Oh no, is everything okay". Guess he decided to leap off the back step at my moms and down he went. Looks nasty huh?! Second thought "I work this weekend"..... "Should he be hobbling around the house carrying a baby" We have made it though. Cayne and Ross are napping right now while Im blogging and actually of all people that should be napping right now - I'm not. Okay back to stamping, addressing, and licking evelopes since I veered off coarse to blog......check your mail this week sometime. : )

My life just got easier...

Since Ross and I bought our house 7 years ago, we have been updating or making changes from day 1. I could create a list - a very long list - of the work that has been accomplished since we've lived here. Last summer we decided on modernizing the kitchen. I was hoping it would be done before Cayne arrived, but we had to wait our turn and last week was our lucky week. We extended the counter, new sink, and added a dishwasher. That's right! I now have a dishwasher. Many hours have been spent in front of the sink washing dishes....when the sink wasn't even big enough to hold half of what was dirtied. Adding bottles did not help at all. I never had a dishwasher growing up so I had no idea what I was missing. Let me tell you.....about a quarter of a day probably! The extension of the counter didn't seem like it would be much but it has made a huge difference too and looks really nice. I will get pictures of the kitchen on here soon. Besides creating dirty dishes from dinners or baking, I add many to the pile from making Cayne's baby food. See how adding a dishwasher is fantastic! For those of you that didn't know...this is the next thing I have added to my "want to stay at home mom" tasks, only I'm a working mom. So if anyone wants to pass on tips and tricks about a dishwasher, I can pass on pureeing 101. : ) Right now I have sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, and 3 different kinds of squash. The array of colors is pretty, don't you think?!

Blogs

I read blogs everyday! I won't lie to you...I am addicted to some. I guess its my soap opera's or Oprah or Ellen. Some make me laugh, some give me ideas, some keep me in touch with the world and people in it, and some make me cry. As I click on them - I am hoping hoping hoping there are new posts with little disappointments if not. A handful of blogger's probably don't even know I read theirs. So as I'm reading blogs, the blog I created just sits. Covered in dust and neglected. Shame on me! Each week might not have the glamorous "Inside Edition" story but I'll try to post something. And since its been awhile, I have to relearn what does what on here. Can we say Blogging for Dummies, please. Cheer's to beginning round two.
